Hi, my name is Rusty. I had to travel half way around the world, up and down the east coast, east to west to realize my dreams. My first dream was finding my wife Lori, in all places, a pizza joint. My second dream was to open my own restaurant. I spent 20 years proudly serving in the Navy. After retiring, we worked in restaurants and manufacturing… but my dream of a pizza and sub shop was never far from my thoughts and I felt no one could do it better than me (and Lori!) With the help of family and friends, my dream came true.

             Lori and I moved to the Traverse City area several years ago. We knew we wanted to live here. In all my travels, no place felt like “home” more than up- state Michigan. With that settled, we had to decide on our new “work life.” Owning a restaurant has been our dream, so we decided; if we found the right location we were going to do it!

             Lori and I spent countless hours creating and testing our recipes before we knew they would stand up to our soon to be customers’ standards. Midwesterners’ work hard, play hard and deserve quality, home-styled food that can be delivered to their door! We opened Rusty’s in February 2010 in Traverse City. Located at the old “Greenhill Grocery” building, Rusty’s offers carryout and free delivery!

             Our menu was created with what you'd expect from a Michigan pizzeria with a back-east flair. Our pizza is a New York Style Pizza – cooked on bricks the way pizza should be cooked. That’s what gives the crust its crispy chewy flavor!

             Our subs are over the top…literally! You will need both hands to wrangle these big guys! We believe that you should get more meat than bread. Our Steak Bomb is just that – the Bomb! Steak, sautéed mushroom, onion, green pepper, melted cheese.

             If you love it hot… just ask for Hots! “Hots” is a hot cherry pepper relish that goes on any sub but I recommend it on our “real” Italian Sub…layers of capicolla, mortadella, pepperoni, salami, cheese and topped with olive oil and vinegar – great flavor in every bite!

            We have great Salads and an Antipasto plate that tops them all!
